A Day in the Life of Your Photographer: Balancing Art, Family, and the Chaos of Life

Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here. I know hiring a photographer is a personal decision, so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek into a typical day in my world. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I balance being a photographer, a mom, a dog lover, and a regular human trying to navigate the beautiful mess of life.

5:00 AM: The Day Begins (Cue the Dogs)
No alarm needed—my dog Willow is my personal wake-up call! First things first, I sneak into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. The entire time, Willow is side-eyeing me until she’s fed. After feeding her, I let out my other two dogs and get their food ready. While they’re outside, I grab my coffee (half & half only, please!) and take my first glorious sip. Morning peace? Not quite. But once everyone’s back inside and settled, I finally sit down.

5:30 AM: Quiet Time with Coffee and Gratitude
My mornings are intentional and important to me, so I grab my journal and start with 10 things I’m grateful for. It sets the tone for the day, reminding me to be present and appreciative. After that, I plan my day in 20-minute blocks—yes, I'm that person. I also squeeze in 15 minutes of reading. Personal development books are my jam, so I read a little of one of those.

6:45 AM: Mom Mode Activated
Time to get the boys up and ready for school. Chaos? Absolutely! But I wouldn’t trade it. By 7:20, we’re out the door for drop-off, and my day officially kicks off.

8:00 AM: Walk + Podcast Therapy
Walking is my form of self-care. Whether I’m catching up with a friend or zoning out to my favorite podcasts, this is my chance to reset. I’m always tuning into one of my top three: Elizabeth Benton, John Delony, or Ed Mylett. Their insights are like little pep talks to keep me motivated and grounded.

9:30 AM: Work Begins—Let's Get Creative!
This time is all about business. I check emails, social media, and catch up with clients who have sessions later that day. By 10:30, I’m in full editing mode. There’s something so satisfying about transforming raw images into memories you’ll treasure forever.

12:00 PM: Lunch Break!
After a morning of work, it’s time to refuel. Nothing fancy here—just a quick bite before diving back into editing or creating content.

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Creative Grind
This is when I really get into the groove, whether it’s editing or brainstorming social media content or new ideas for upcoming shoots. My goal is to deliver something unique and personal to each client.

3:00 PM: Kids, Homework, and Everything in Between
I meet the boys at the bus stop and it’s straight into homework time. (We try to make this fun, but let’s be real—it’s homework.) Then, if the weather's nice, we head outside for some fresh air with the dogs.

5:00 PM: The Evening Juggle
Evenings are a whirlwind that begin with picking up the older kids from after-school sports or band practices, and then getting a quick dinner ready. Then from 6-8 PM, my youngest has football practice, so we head off to that. I truly enjoy seeing him out on the field!

9:00 PM: Wind Down and Recharge
After the evening hustle, it’s finally time to unwind. Showers, bedtime, and maybe a few moments of quiet before I crash around 9:30 PM. Then, it’s lights out, because tomorrow is a brand-new adventure!

So there you have it—an ideal day in my life! My days are a blend of family, dogs, creativity, and (just enough) chaos. Whether I’m photographing your family or capturing your special moments, know that I bring all my love for life’s real, messy, and beautiful moments into every session. I can’t wait to meet you and help tell your story through my lens!
