With grandparents, their two sons & wives, and four cousins, we created a beautiful collection of memories that will be cherished for years to come. I love how these sessions bring together so many personalities, each family unit contributing its own unique dynamic.
From candid moments of laughter to posed group shots, every frame told a part of their story.
We also made sure to take individual photos of each family of four, giving them each a personal keepsake.
Extended family sessions are such a special way to document the bonds between generations, and it's an honor to capture these moments that go beyond just a photograph—they're pieces of a family's history.
I had the honor of photographing a beautiful baptism for a sweet family recently, capturing both the sacred ceremony and the cherished moments that followed. The joy and love in the room were undeniable as this little one was welcomed into the faith, surrounded by family and friends.
After the service, we took some family portraits to commemorate the day, and it was so special to see everyone come together to celebrate such a meaningful occasion. I’m grateful to have been part of this milestone, preserving memories that will be treasured for years to come.
2015 vs 2024
Beyond the personal value, family portraits are something you can share with future generations, passing down not just photos but stories and memories. It’s also a wonderful way to celebrate milestones, like birthdays, anniversaries, or big life events, in a way that doesn’t rely on the randomness of smartphone photos. You can look back at these photos years later and see how everyone has evolved—how your kids’ smiles and personalities shift with each passing year. Regular professional photos also help you create a consistent family visual story, from the toddler years to their teenage milestones, which can be powerful when put together over time. Lastly, with the chaos of everyday life, a yearly session guarantees that you’ll have at least one occasion to slow down and really focus on creating memories together as a family. If you haven't scheduled your family photos for this year, I would love for you to consider booking your session with me. You can view my session options here.
Getting your child excited about an upcoming photography session can be a fun and creative process with the right approach. Start by talking to them about the session well in advance, focusing on the fun aspects rather than making it seem like a chore. It also helps to show them previous photo sessions you have done and talk to them about why you love the photos. Explain that it’s an opportunity to express themselves and capture memories they'll look back on. You can even let them help choose their outfit or suggest props, which gives them some ownership and control over the experience. Make it interactive by incorporating their favorite activities or hobbies into the session—whether that’s playing with a pet, wearing a superhero costume, or bringing a favorite toy. Keep the mood light and playful, emphasizing that there’s no need to be “perfect.” Offering small incentives, like a treat or a special outing afterward, can also motivate them. I also try to keep my treasure chest handy because kids like to have the opportunity to open it and find a prize. Lastly, reassure your child that the photographer (that's me!) will make it fun and that they can take breaks if needed. With the right mindset, your child will not only look forward to the session but enjoy the process of capturing beautiful moments.

I had the pleasure of photographing two wonderful sisters on a chilly, windy day, and they were absolute troopers! I wanted to try a new pose and asked for volunteers, and they were so gracious to help me out, even though the elements weren’t in our favor. While the pose didn’t turn out exactly as I had envisioned, the overall result of their session still exceeded my expectations. Despite the cold and wind, these two brought so much warmth and energy, making it a session I’ll always remember!
Neutral tones are timeless, versatile, and tend to complement winter landscapes without clashing with the surroundings.
Rich, jewel-toned colors pop against the neutral and wintry background, adding vibrancy and depth to the photos.
While pastels are often associated with spring, soft pastel hues can look stunning in winter, especially when combined with layers or textures.
Earthy shades can work well with both nature-themed shoots or urban winter settings, creating warmth even in colder weather.
By selecting colors that reflect the season's tones while adding depth and warmth, you can create beautiful, memorable photos that capture the magic of winter.

Although mini photography sessions include a small amount of photos I can normally get 25+ images in such a short period of time. My goal during mini sessions are not multiple location (we really stick to one spot!) or a variety of poses. My goal is to give my clients several options of each pose/combination so they can pick their favorites.
The way I do that is by doing the following:
- Start the session right away. Kids get bored and start to lose interest really quick.
- Start with the family photos because that is usually the main photos families want, then I go to siblings together and then individuals. I always end with Mom & Dad (if applicable). If kid are cooperating and time allows I then do Mom with kids then Dad with kids.
- Remind the kids of the bribe (sometimes parents have them but I also have a little treasure chest I tell them about!)
- I plan the poses for each family ahead of time. I like to get ages of kids when you sign up for your session so I know, are kids standing, can they sit in your lap, etc.
- I don't waste time! Mini sessions are quick so I am constantly posing & taking photos so we can get them done quickly.
The biggest way I get so many photos in such a short time is because I do these ALL the time and I have been doing mini sessions for years. These years of experience has helped me create mini session photos that my clients love and will cherish forever.

Have you ever had a mini session with me? If not, I would love for you to see what upcoming mini sessions I am hosting or you can sign up here for a mini session anytime! I'd love to show you what mini sessions are all about.
I am trying something new: Weekly BTS Wrap up.
This is just a way for me to share with you all in one place what has been happening at M.Gioeli Photography, behind the scenes and my life over the last week.
This week has been anything but normal. I didn't have any shoots other than assisting with a newborn session. I did do a lot of work in my business with planning, scheduling content and making decisions haha.
Monday - Kids were supposed to go back to school and ... hello...rain fell from the sky and turned to ice in some areas. So, naturally school closed! I would rather everyone be safe than sorry so, I am glad our schools called it. I did spend the morning with a close photography friend and we knocked out some work that we needed to get done at my favorite coffee shop, Maddie Cakes in Advance. Luckily the roads were clear enough that evening and I was able to make it to my nephew's first basketball game. If you are in the Davie County area I highly recommend checking out our Recreation & Parks for your kids activities and sports.
Tuesday - Another day of bad road conditions, so the school had a 2 hour delay. My husband and I spent most of the day in meetings which is not the most fun way to spend the day together. However, I did force myself to leave the house after 5:00pm and make it to our monthly Goal Getters meeting. I am so glad I attended because there was several great speakers and I meet so many new business owners including: iMoves Mangagement, Serina Weldon Photography, FotoGenic Photobooth, Peace, Purpose & Wellness, Kendall Sharpe Designs and Jobana Impressions. I am excited to meet with each of these business owners 1:1 and get to know them better and find ways to help each other. The meeting was also good to see familar faces!
Wednesday - Unfortunately my littlest hasn't been feeling great to although kids went back to school today, my little guy stayed home. So my plans for the day had to shift. I take this as a blessing though that I can shift my day, tasks & appointments. My sister met me at my house and we went for a walk, and boy was it cold! I did have a meeting with my health coach, Tiffany **Highly recommend her anytime I can** via zoom, as well as a business owner who I absolutely love working with. More on this business later, but she did sign on to work with me again in 2025 to help her create content for her business. The day ended getting my nails done!
Thursday - Thursday morning I meet my good friend Kim Shouse at her beautiful studio in Clemmons for a newborn session. I help Kim with her newborns and it has been such a wonderful collaboration. I still photograph newborns but more lifestyle than posed with props. As soon as I wrapped up with her I jumped on a zoom with another business (again....more on this later) who also signed on for me to help her create photos for her social media content. I am so excited to work with her and already sent her several ideas for her upcoming photo session.
Friday - Luckily the school canceled school and informed us on Thursday. Super lazy day, although I did get my 10,000 steps. I started the morning out for a walk with my sister. When I came home my husband was building a fire in his burn barrel. What a treat that was because we sat outside most of the morning and saw the first snow flakes fall. After it started to come down pretty good and the dogs were worn out from playing outside we went inside for most of the day.
Saturday - Pretty much another lazy day and I am here for it! The sun was out so I did go for a long walk. We walked around looking at all the animal tracks. My son has a project that was due Friday and luckily he got a snow day because he still has a lot of work to do on it! Maxden is feeling better and Camden went to a friends house to play in the snow. He is my big, little kid -- I love it! He has been out playing in the snow the most. I am heading out of town Sunday with a good photography friend of mine for our annual business retreat. So I also spent the day packing and preparing for the trip.
I hope you had a wonderful week! I am on a business retreat for part of next week. I have a handful of sessions this coming weekend but the week days are full of meeting with some amazing business owners I connected with recently. I can't wait to find out more about what they do. Talk soon.
The house was a festive wonderland, with twinkling lights and cozy details that made the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion. Along with her family, we also captured some heartwarming photos of her son and daughter-in-law, who shared the exciting news that they’re expecting—what a wonderful way to announce their pregnancy!
The love and excitement in the air were palpable, and it was an honor to preserve these unforgettable moments. I’m so grateful to be a part of this close-knit family’s celebrations, and can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings for them.
As the year draws to a close, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of holiday preparations, last-minute shopping, and the endless to-do lists. If you're anything like most of us, you're probably just trying to survive right now. And that's okay.
This is the time of year when we naturally start to reflect. Maybe you're looking back on 2024 and realizing you didn’t get as many professional photos taken as you’d hoped. Or maybe you’re scrolling through your phone and wishing you’d snapped more pictures during those everyday moments. Here’s a gentle reminder: it’s okay. Truly.
Now is not the time for regret or negativity. The memories you made with your family and loved ones are what matter most. Whether they’re perfectly curated or candidly chaotic, they’re yours—and they’re priceless.
As we head into 2025, consider setting an intention around capturing your memories. Take all the pictures you can. Snap the little moments—the ones where your kids are laughing at the breakfast table or your dog is napping in a sunbeam. Those everyday snapshots will bring you joy for years to come.
But here’s the thing: while cell phones are fantastic for capturing memories in the moment, they’re just not the same as professional photography. A professional photo doesn’t just capture what you look like—it captures how you feel in that moment. It brings out the love, the connection, and the essence of who you are as a family, as an individual, or even as a business owner needing a standout headshot.
And let’s not forget the difference in quality. When you have professional photos taken, you’re investing in images that are meant to last—to be printed, framed, and cherished. This is something your cell phone can’t compete with.
So, as you’re making your goals and plans for the new year, keep this in mind: aim to have at least one professional photo session in 2025. Whether it’s a family photo, a session to celebrate a milestone, or even just updated headshots, it’s a way to preserve your story.
When you're ready to make that happen, I’ll be here for you. Photography is more than my job; it’s my passion. My goal is to help you freeze time for just a moment so you can hold onto it forever. Whenever you’re ready, whether it’s January or December, I’ll be here to capture those memories for you.
Until then, take a deep breath. Give yourself grace. Look back on this year with love for all that it held—and look forward to the memories yet to come.

Here are some tips to help you get the best results:
Plan Ahead: Choose a time when everyone is relaxed, such as after a meal or during nap time for younger kids. Also, consider the lighting—natural light is usually the most flattering, so aim for early morning or late afternoon when the sun is softer.
Pick a Simple, Clean Background: Avoid cluttered or busy backgrounds that can distract from the subjects. A park, a well-lit room, or even a simple wall can be a great backdrop.
Use a Tripod or Stable Surface: A tripod is ideal, but if you don’t have one, try setting your camera or phone on a stable surface like a table or stack of books. Use the timer function to give you time to get into position.
Focus on Natural Poses: Instead of stiffly posing, try to capture natural moments—walking hand-in-hand, hugging, or just interacting. Candid shots often feel more genuine and less staged.
Set the Camera at Eye Level: For a more flattering perspective, position the camera at eye level with the tallest family member. This creates a more balanced and appealing composition.
Use the Burst Mode: Family photos can be unpredictable, so use burst mode (continuous shooting) to capture a range of expressions and movements. It’s easier to choose the perfect shot from a series than to hope for one perfect moment.
Dress Coordinately, But Comfortably: Choose outfits that complement each other without being overly matchy-matchy. Focus on colors that work well together and reflect your family's style, but make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident.
Have Fun with It: The best family photos often come from relaxed, joyful moments. Play around, laugh, and enjoy the process—it’ll show in your photos!
With a little planning and creativity, you can create beautiful family photos that you'll treasure for years to come.
PS - I did schedule a session for my family this summer and it was the first time in 3 years. Sometime years this is the best I get! And that is OK!

Are you looking to get a handful of great photos in a shorter amount of time? Is it easier on your schedule and stress-levels to choose from already set dates, times, and themes? A mini session might be for you! Even better, choose a mini session package.
Simply put, a mini session is a smaller version of a full session.
It’s pretty straight forward, but there are many perks to choosing a mini session package. If you’re looking for a way to capture your family’s story throughout the year without the hassle of scheduling multiple sessions, I’ve got great news for you!
My 2025 Mini-Session Packages are officially open for booking, and they’re designed to make family photography easy, fun, and affordable.
Not sure if a mini-session package is right for you? Keep reading for 10 reasons why families love this option:
1. Best Bang for Your Buck!
This is hands-down the biggest perk. With the package, you get three sessions throughout the year and the entire digital gallery from each one—that’s a $750 value included at a HUGE discount. That means you’re getting more than just a few photos—you’re also getting all the smiles, laughs, and memories to treasure forever. It’s the ultimate way to capture your family’s story over the seasons, all at an unbeatable price.
2. Perfect for Growing Families
Kids grow up faster than we’d like to admit, and those little milestones—like missing front teeth or that new “big kid” smile—deserve to be captured. Mini sessions allow you to document your family’s journey throughout the year, so you’ll always have those sweet moments preserved as your kiddos grow and change.
3. Flexible Scheduling
Life is hectic, but mini-session packages are designed to fit into your busy calendar. With three sessions to use, you can choose dates that work best for your family’s schedule. Whether it’s a spring morning, a sunny summer day, or a cozy fall afternoon, these sessions make it easy to keep your family’s memories on track without disrupting your plans.
4. Capture Special Moments
Mini sessions are perfect for celebrating milestones, holidays, or that everyday magic. Whether you’re documenting a birthday, a back-to-school moment, or just your family being their most amazing selves, these sessions ensure you’re never missing out on the moments that matter most.
5. Seasonal Variety
One of the best things about a mini-session package is that each session can be done in a different season. Imagine photos with vibrant spring flowers, golden summer sunsets, colorful fall leaves, or even a wintry wonderland. You’ll have a stunning collection of images that reflect the beauty of each season and your family’s growth through the year.
6. No Pressure for Perfect Photos
Mini sessions are quick, fun, and stress-free. They’re the perfect way to get beautiful photos without the pressure of a full-length shoot. Kids (and parents!) can relax and enjoy the experience, knowing it’s all about capturing real, joyful moments. Hidden perk: if you have shy kids, we get to know each other throughout the sessions, and as their comfort level grows, I get more genuine smiles every time.
7. Ideal for Busy Families
If your family is always on the go, these sessions are a game-changer. Mini sessions are short and sweet, so you can squeeze in professional photos without blocking off an entire afternoon. Plus, with three sessions included, you’ll never have to scramble to schedule last-minute pictures again.
8. Quick Turnaround
Nobody likes waiting forever to see their photos. Mini sessions come with a faster turnaround time, meaning you’ll get to enjoy your images sooner rather than later. Perfect for those who can’t wait to update their frames or share their favorites on social media!
9. Customizable Themes
Every session can have its own vibe. Whether you’re going for a holiday look, seasonal fun, or classic family portraits, mini sessions are versatile enough to match your vision. You can mix and match by selecting from a couple of my themed sessions like watermelon, or tulip fields, and then do a quick family session that’s all about you.
10. The Ultimate Gift Idea
Mini-session packages aren’t just a gift for yourself—they’re a fantastic present for loved ones, too! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, or friends will treasure custom photo gifts like prints, albums, or holiday cards. Or, give the package itself to a loved one so they can enjoy a year’s worth of memories.

]]>On the other hand, when shooting indoors, you can experiment with window light to create a soft, inviting ambiance. If you find yourself in a low-light situation, don’t shy away from using flash; just remember to diffuse it to avoid overly bright spots.
Another tip is to pay attention to the direction of the light. Side lighting can add depth and dimension, while backlighting can create a stunning silhouette effect. Lastly, always be mindful of your white balance, as this will ensure your colors appear true to life. By mastering the art of lighting, you'll be well on your way to capturing stunning photographs that truly stand out!
You may often see me post looking for a family, or maybe kids or a high school senior who is available or a certain day/time because I have scouted out a location and I want to test it. This fall family session was filled with laughter and the vibrant colors of autumn, perfectly framing a spirited family of six. With four energetic boys, the afternoon was a whirlwind of playful moments, showcasing their unique personalities against a backdrop of golden leaves. Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here. I know hiring a photographer is a personal decision, so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek into a typical day in my world. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I balance being a photographer, a mom, a dog lover, and a regular human trying to navigate the beautiful mess of life.
5:00 AM: The Day Begins (Cue the Dogs)
No alarm needed—my dog Willow is my personal wake-up call! First things first, I sneak into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. The entire time, Willow is side-eyeing me until she’s fed. After feeding her, I let out my other two dogs and get their food ready. While they’re outside, I grab my coffee (half & half only, please!) and take my first glorious sip. Morning peace? Not quite. But once everyone’s back inside and settled, I finally sit down.
5:30 AM: Quiet Time with Coffee and Gratitude
My mornings are intentional and important to me, so I grab my journal and start with 10 things I’m grateful for. It sets the tone for the day, reminding me to be present and appreciative. After that, I plan my day in 20-minute blocks—yes, I'm that person. I also squeeze in 15 minutes of reading. Personal development books are my jam, so I read a little of one of those.
6:45 AM: Mom Mode Activated
Time to get the boys up and ready for school. Chaos? Absolutely! But I wouldn’t trade it. By 7:20, we’re out the door for drop-off, and my day officially kicks off.
8:00 AM: Walk + Podcast Therapy
Walking is my form of self-care. Whether I’m catching up with a friend or zoning out to my favorite podcasts, this is my chance to reset. I’m always tuning into one of my top three: Elizabeth Benton, John Delony, or Ed Mylett. Their insights are like little pep talks to keep me motivated and grounded.
9:30 AM: Work Begins—Let's Get Creative!
This time is all about business. I check emails, social media, and catch up with clients who have sessions later that day. By 10:30, I’m in full editing mode. There’s something so satisfying about transforming raw images into memories you’ll treasure forever.
12:00 PM: Lunch Break!
After a morning of work, it’s time to refuel. Nothing fancy here—just a quick bite before diving back into editing or creating content.
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Creative Grind
This is when I really get into the groove, whether it’s editing or brainstorming social media content or new ideas for upcoming shoots. My goal is to deliver something unique and personal to each client.
3:00 PM: Kids, Homework, and Everything in Between
I meet the boys at the bus stop and it’s straight into homework time. (We try to make this fun, but let’s be real—it’s homework.) Then, if the weather's nice, we head outside for some fresh air with the dogs.
5:00 PM: The Evening Juggle
Evenings are a whirlwind that begin with picking up the older kids from after-school sports or band practices, and then getting a quick dinner ready. Then from 6-8 PM, my youngest has football practice, so we head off to that. I truly enjoy seeing him out on the field!
9:00 PM: Wind Down and Recharge
After the evening hustle, it’s finally time to unwind. Showers, bedtime, and maybe a few moments of quiet before I crash around 9:30 PM. Then, it’s lights out, because tomorrow is a brand-new adventure!
So there you have it—an ideal day in my life! My days are a blend of family, dogs, creativity, and (just enough) chaos. Whether I’m photographing your family or capturing your special moments, know that I bring all my love for life’s real, messy, and beautiful moments into every session. I can’t wait to meet you and help tell your story through my lens!
At Davie High School, the spirit of creativity and rhythm comes alive with the Dancing Boots, a vibrant dance group that captivates audiences with their lively performances to the marching band’s tunes. Recently, we captured some stunning photos of this talented Dancing Boot. During football games the excitement in the crowd is evident, as everyone loves watching the Dancing Boots and the marching band work together to create an unforgettable experience. It’s heartwarming to see how much the community enjoys the music and dancing and how they support these arts. Here’s to more fun performances and the vibrant school spirit that brings us all together!

Choosing a comfortable outfit can also boost your confidence—wear something that makes you feel good. Another tip is to focus on what you enjoy during the shoot; engage with friends or family, share laughs, and let those genuine moments shine through. If possible, collaborate with your photographer; discuss your concerns and preferences, and they can help guide you through the process.
Lastly, consider scheduling shorter sessions. Quick, candid shots can feel less daunting than long, posed ones. With these strategies, you might just find that being in photos becomes a little more enjoyable!
Here is another tip!
Often if you just come right out and say, "I have a fear of being in front of the camera" that alone can help reduce anxiety. I say NAME IT. What is causing you anxiety about your upcoming session. Often it is the fear of what you will look like, how you will stand, what your outfit will look like, etc. By just coming right out and saying that you are nervous about being in front of the camera it automatically eases some stress. No matter what, just know...I gotcha!
We had a blast capturing a fun family session filled with laughter and genuine moments! From playful interactions to heartfelt embraces, every shot showcased their unique bond and joy. It was a delightful reminder of the beautiful chaos that comes with family life, creating memories to cherish for years to come.
As we step into fall, capturing a senior photography session amidst old barns and rustic buildings is a beautiful way to celebrate this transitional season. The warm glow of golden hour adds a magical touch, illuminating the fields with rich hues that perfectly complement the coming autumn backdrop. Each shot tells a story of growth and nostalgia, blending the beauty of nature with the excitement of new beginnings. This unique setting not only highlights the senior's personality but also creates timeless memories to cherish for years to come.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share my top four favorite photoshoot locations for any season. The best part? They’re completely free to use!
While some popular locations charge a hefty fee for photoshoots (sometimes as much as $200 or more!), these spots come with no extra cost.
Here’s an insider’s guide to the best photoshoot locations around - and when to capture them at their best!
Located in Clemmons North Carolina, Tanglewood Park is a dream for any nature lover or history enthusiast.
The park features the Manor House, a grand, historic building that adds an air of elegance to your photos. The arboretum gardens are full of beautifully landscaped flowers, arbors, and benches, perfect for more intimate, romantic shots. For those who want a rustic feel, the park also boasts barns, wooded trails, and wide-open spaces.
Tanglewood’s rich variety means it has something for everyone—from stately, historic shots to natural, woodsy scenes. The trails and gardens transform beautifully with each season, making it a wonderful option all year round.
Best Time for Photos:
The park is beautiful in both morning and evening. For softer light and that golden glow, I recommend evening sessions. If you’re looking for a more peaceful, dewy atmosphere, grab your coffee and let’s do a session early in the morning.
Address: 4061 Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012
Website: https://www.forsyth.cc/parks/tanglewood/
If you’re drawn to tranquil, natural settings, the Village Point Greenway in Clemmons will speak to your soul. Offering a wonderful mix of nature and calm, inviting landscapes, the paved paths around Village Point Lake wind through beautiful wooded areas, leading to the fishing pier. The pier is the perfect spot for capturing reflections on the water, while the wooded areas give a peaceful and natural feel to your images.
In fall, the leaves make for breathtaking photos showing off their vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. In spring and summer, the lush greenery and blooming flowers set a gorgeous, lively scene. Even in winter, the simplicity of the bare trees and the quiet of the pond create a serene atmosphere.
Best Time for Photos:
Both morning and evening sessions are perfect for this location, but the evening light reflecting off the pond can create particularly stunning, golden tones.
Address: 6200 Harper Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012

Bethabara Park offers a beautifully preserved slice of history that feels like stepping back in time. The park is perfect for those who want a unique, textured backdrop for their photos. The cobblestone buildings, barns, wooden fences, and wooden bridges provide an array of charming, rustic settings. The open fields and paths also give plenty of opportunities for more natural, wide-open shots.
What makes Bethabara special is its intimate, historic vibe—much like Old Salem (which charges a fee), but without the high cost. It’s a great location for anyone wanting a mix of history and natural beauty in a small, manageable setting.
Best Time for Photos:
Evening sessions are best to capture the full charm of the park. As the golden hour light filters through the historic buildings and trees, it adds a warm glow to the rustic setting. Morning sessions can work here as well, but the range of photogenic spots is more limited during early hours.
Address: 2147 Bethabara Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106

I may be a little biased, but this one is my favorite! If you’re dreaming of a private and distraction-free session, you’ll love my property in the Farmington area of Mocksville, NC. Not only do you get the luxury of complete privacy (no sharing space with other visitors, except maybe the wildlife!), but the variety of backdrops here offers something for everyone. Fields of tall grass, scenic ponds, and rows of trees, set the scene for a dreamy, natural look. With a rustic barn, old metal gates, and weathered buildings this spot delivers all the elements that bring a timeless, rustic charm to your photos.
Whether you're after a cozy family session or something with a classic, countryside feel, this location is versatile enough to match your vision in any season.
Best Time for Photos:
To make the most of the beautiful landscape, I recommend evening sessions. The soft, golden-hour light adds a magical warmth, especially when the sun sets behind the fields and water.
Location (exact address provided upon booking)
While all of the above locations are free, if you’re looking for a truly iconic spot, Reynolda Gardens is worth considering, even with its fee. With manicured gardens, arbors, a glass greenhouse, winding pathways, and a lovely waterfall, it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the area. However, keep in mind the location fees can drive up the cost of your shoot, whereas the other options provide equally stunning scenery at no extra cost.
Some popular locations charge fees that can add up quickly, increasing the overall cost of your session. But these free spots offer equally beautiful, varied backdrops without the extra cost, giving you more flexibility with your budget. Whether you’re after historic charm, rustic landscapes, or peaceful natural beauty, these locations have it all—without the price tag.
If any of these locations spark your interest, I’d love to help you plan the perfect shoot! With so many gorgeous backdrops to choose from, we can create something truly special. Reach out today, and let’s capture your story together!
There's something truly special about photographing a maternity session for a family welcoming their second child. Recently, I had the joy of working with this family—having captured their first child’s maternity and newborn session along with an extended family session last fall. This time, we gathered in the enchanting "secret garden" at Tanglewood, where the morning light danced through the towering hydrangeas, creating a serene and magical atmosphere.
The morning light cast a soft, golden glow over the garden, highlighting the vibrant blooms and illuminating the family's smiles. This little secret garden made a perfect location for their maternity photos. I absolutely love their hues of yellow on Mom's dress & Dad's shirt matching with soon to be big sister's dress. I couldn't be more pleased with how these photos turned out and looking forward to their family newborn session soon.
Capturing the family during a maternity session is always the priority. However, I love capturing a few of mom by herself. Mom was absolutely stunning and I love the added floral belt that accentuates her baby bump.
Whether you are looking for a maternity photographer, kid or family photographer I would love for you to consider my photography for your next session. You can view my calendar and book your next session here.

As a parent, there are moments that fill your heart with pride and joy beyond measure. Watching my youngest son step onto the football field for the first time was one of those extraordinary moments. Seeing him don the tackle football gear and dive into the game was not just about witnessing his physical growth but also about celebrating his courage and enthusiasm.
I was eager to capture every moment of this milestone, so I made sure to grab my camera this season. From the intense focus in his eyes to the sheer thrill of each play, I wanted to preserve the essence of this special experience. The photographs turned out beautifully, showcasing his excitement and determination with every snap of the shutter.
To make this experience even more memorable, I decided to create a mini accordion album featuring all his favorite poses from the game. When I surprised him with the album, his face lit up with pure joy. The mini album wasn’t just a collection of pictures; it was a tangible reminder of his hard work and passion for the sport. Each photo told a story of his journey, capturing the pride and happiness he felt in those moments.
It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of celebrating our children's achievements, no matter how big or small. Seeing my son’s excitement and knowing that he has a keepsake to cherish makes this experience all the more special. Here's to many more milestones and memories to come!
A photography session is a fantastic way to capture memories, milestones, or just the everyday moments of life. However, choosing the right outfit can make a significant difference in how your photos turn out. Here are some tips to help you select the perfect attire for your next photo shoot:
1. Coordinate, Don’t Match
Gone are the days of everyone in the family wearing matching outfits. Instead, opt for coordinating colors and patterns. Choose a color palette and have everyone select outfits within that range. This creates a cohesive look without the uniform effect. Think of complementary colors and subtle patterns that work well together rather than clashing prints.
2. Opt for Comfort
Comfort is key in a photo session. If you’re uncomfortable, it will show in your photos. Choose outfits that fit well and allow you to move freely. Avoid anything too tight or too loose, and make sure shoes are comfortable if you’ll be standing or walking for extended periods.
3. Keep It Classic
Trendy clothes can quickly become outdated, and flashy patterns or bright colors might overshadow the subject of the photo: you! Stick to classic styles and neutral or soft colors for timeless images that won’t look dated in a few years. Solid colors often work best and allow the focus to remain on you rather than your clothing.
4. Consider the Location
The setting of your photo shoot should influence your outfit choice. For a natural outdoor session, earthy tones and soft textures work well. In an urban environment, you might opt for something a bit more polished or edgy. Always consider how your outfit will contrast with or complement the background.
PRO TIPS:
Additionally, here are some expert outfit tips from two clients that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing regularly over the years. Julie and Jennifer are experts in dressing their families, so I knew their tips and tricks would be perfect to share with you!
These insights are just a glimpse into how clients prepare for sessions, ensuring everyone is comfortable and happy, and they stay true to their family’s style.
Julie: “Don’t over think it! First, pick the mama outfit and style around it. Just because it’s fall, you don’t necessarily need to go with “fall” colors, i.e. orange, brown, etc. Go with your favorite colors/patterns and what suits your style. For example, a fun floral pink dress for mama and pull the accent colors for the kids and dad. Don’t forget the accessories, fun necklace and earrings, knee socks for little ones, fun headbands for tween/teen, a sweater that complements mamas/kids dress that she’ll actually wear again!”
Jennifer: “I usually start with the boys outfits and find stuff for my husband and I based on that. I try not to be too “matchy matchy” and also to not repeat color schemes. Also, I start early with planning in case I find clothes and end up not liking them or they don’t fit comfortably. I lay everything out on the bed and see how it looks together.”
See what I mean? Gorgeous!

They were interested in getting some B&W images so I wanted to make sure that the background would look good. She asked about outfits so I think that with multiple people in a photo for B&W it's best to have a good contrast with light & dark colors. Mom did a great job coordinating outfits to achieve this. They are going to look amazing printed and put on her wall.
We started the session in front of the Manor house at Tanglewood on the walkway. We did each kid separetly and then a few shots of them together. We then went into the gated garden, I call the secret garden with beautiful hydrangeas that is in full bloom in the summertime.
If you are interested I a mini photography session where for children photography or family photography and would like more information please check out our website here with more information.

Family mini sessions are about 10-15 minutes and include 5 digital images you can pick from a full gallery of 15-30 images. Typically during a family session your entire family is captures in several poses, children together and separate. If time allows I love to capture parents together and each parent with the children. I am always up for photo combinations you want!

This summer was filled with these beautiful field sessions that were such a hit! I didn't realize how beautiful these photos were going to turn out until one day I decided to ask a client, "Are you up for a little adventure?" Then I tested it out and have done countless field summer photography sessions since! But now that the field has burned up (the little white flowers that made my day!) the secret garden is the next hit spot! Between those we have done watermelon minis & lots of family sessions.
Let's go down memory lane & check out the watermelon mini sessions we did this summer!
